God’s Bankers: Faith in the City

The Independent published an interesting article recently entitled God’s Bankers: How evangelical Christianity is taking a hold of London’s financial institutions. Well worth a read.

One aspect that came out of the article was the reluctance of people working in the city to be open about their faith, or even to let their colleagues know that they were Christians. Do you find the same issue in your workplace?

Please discuss below.

BiG Networking Breakfast: Life in the City

We are delighted to confirm as was mentioned at the lunch time seminar in March we are planning to do something different in April. Instead of meeting at our usual lunch time slot we are planning to move it to a much earlier time and do a breakfast slot from 7.45am to 8.45am. We will have breakfast at the La Vita restaurant at the corner of St Vincent Place and Queen’s Street looking onto the heart of the city in George Square.

The name of the restaurant which means ‘the beautiful life’ provides the theme for the breakfast which will be ‘Life in the City’ and on this occasion Jack Quinn, Trustee of BiG, will be leading some thoughts on this theme.

Already a number of people have confirmed that they are intending to join Jack on this occasion. We would be grateful if we could have firm responses now so that we can inform the restaurant of how many people will be attending.

Jack is looking forward to this occasion, not least in the fact that not being a morning person himself, he will be interested to meet those who are. Even if you are not a morning person, can we extend the challenge to join Jack in getting up that little bit earlier to join other like minded folks who have a real heart for the city and a concern for its wellbeing and join us for breakfast as we reflect on these matters.

Please note that our BiG networking lunch will be on Tuesday 10th May and not our usual first Tuesday of the month. Speaker details to follow.
