I’ve just been listening to Andreas Whittam Smith on BBC iPlayer give a great Lent Talk on the financial markets and the temptation of Christ.
Well worth a listen as a summary of the temptations what people who work with wealth face. It takes about 10 minutes to listen to.
Hope you find this helpful [...]

Table Talk 2

As Britain’s aspirations disappear in the slush of Whistler Mountain, the Winter Olympics have come to an end and so again the dreams of many athletes. I wouldn’t want to knock them because I could not hurtle down an icy wall of death at 90 miles an hour, lying on my back on a little [...]

Table Talk

The conversations we covered at our Engage dinner last week were wide ranging but the topic of ‘going for walks’ came up. You know, the kind of walking we don’t always have time for. The walking with our eyes open, taking in the scenery, the weather, the people at street corners on bridges etc etc. [...]

Networking Meal

We thought we would start off the first BiG meeting of the new decade in a slightly different fashion and hope you will be able to join us. We are planning to have a sit down two course lunch at a very economical price and the usual high standard of cooking that the Oasis Cafe at the Renfield Centre provides. This will give us all a chance to catch up and get to know each other better.

Spiritual Issues at Work

We regret to announce that due to a bereavement, Danny McGuigan will no longer be able to deliver his seminar on Ambition Issues at Work on Tuesday 3 November as planned.

We have therefore brought forward December's seminar and Peter Gardner will discuss Spiritual Issues at Work.

There are lots of issues we face in our work, keeping work focus, maintaining motivation, finding a healthy work-life balance, sustaining self-confidence, setting goal and priorities. We have all heard of good ways to improve our work practice but most of us find it difficult to do things differently. Peter Gardner, who is minister at Renfield St. Stephen's church, and has worked with Business in Glasgow over the last seven years will look at these issues from a different angle and, drawing from some of the traditions of Christian spirituality, suggest some practical ways of improving the way we work.
