Stewart Geddes
Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Edinburgh West
Stewart Geddes is the Conservative Party candidate for the Edinburgh West Parliamentary seat at the forthcoming General Election. Stewart was born in Glasgow but grew up in Brazil where his parents were missionaries. He returned to Glasgow in 1976 to complete his education before joining RBS in 1978. Stewart retains a keen interest in Brazil and still speaks fluent Portuguese. After a number of years working largely in the Glasgow area Stewart moved to Essex in 1990 where he worked for six years followed by 12 working in the West End of London. Stewart first became formally involved in politics at the 2001 General Election. This was followed by periods as Chairman of the Local Conservative Association then as a District Councillor before seeking adoption as a Parliamentary candidate. Recognising the need to be part of a local community, Stewart and his family moved to Edinburgh in early 2008 where the family have settled and new friendships established. Stewart is a member Davidsons Mains Parish church and is involved with a number of local charities including the Scottish Bible Society, Bethany Christian Trust, The Rock Trust and Guide Dogs for the Blind. In his spare time, Stewart spends time with his family, rides his motorcycle and enjoys outdoor pursuits such as hill walking and skiing. He is married with two daughters aged 17 and 14.
